Who it's for

Parents and caregivers of children ages 4–12 who are dealing with defiance, tantrums, arguing or trouble following directions, including children with ADHD. It's also a good fit if you simply want a more consistent, confident approach to parenting.

Children don't attend; the group is for parents.

What you'll learn

Each session focuses on one strategy. You'll practice it in the group, try it at home during the week, and troubleshoot together at the next session.

  1. Positive attention

Using specific praise and one-on-one time to encourage the behavior you want to see more of.

  2. Clear instructions

Giving directions in a way that makes children more likely to follow through.

  3. Routines and rewards

Setting up predictable routines and simple reward systems that motivate children.

  4. Calm, consistent limits

Responding to challenging behavior with planned, predictable consequences instead of raised voices.

  5. Staying connected

Keeping your relationship with your child warm through hard moments, and taking care of yourself as a parent.

What parents can expect

This approach is one of the most well-researched ways to improve children's behavior. Parents often see:

  • Fewer power struggles and meltdowns
  • Children who listen and cooperate more
  • A calmer, more predictable home
  • More confidence, and more consistency between caregivers
  • A warmer relationship with their child

The changes you make at home are what drive the results, so practice between sessions is a big part of the group.

Common questions

Does my child attend?

No. The group is for parents and caregivers.

Can both parents come?

Yes, any parent or caregiver can attend. When more than one caregiver comes, it's easier to stay consistent at home.

How is this different from parent guidance?

Parent guidance is usually individual sessions tailored to your family. The group covers similar strategies in a structured series, alongside other parents working on the same things.

When can I join?

New members join at the start of a series, so everyone learns the strategies in order. We'll let you know when the next one begins.

How much does it cost?

Fees are discussed during your free phone consultation. We are an out-of-network practice and provide superbills so you can seek reimbursement from your insurer. Fees and insurance
